Cheap Gifts Without Seeming Cheap!

Need a Great Gift For Less Money?

I found an article on cheap Father’s Day Gifts that got me thinking about some ways that my friends have coped with gift giving when funds were short. You really can deliver a thoughtful present to somebody without spending too much money. You can really find some surprising gifts that will really touch your loved ones without being that commercial about it too.

Cheap Gifts For Adults

This can be challenging, but a lot of times our friends and loved one want our time more than anything. Why not offer your mom or best friend a paid lunch date? I have found that the lunch menus at some great restaurants are usually less expensive than dinner selections, and a gift of a lunch out also offers something priceless – an pleansant hour with you! Of course, you should pick up the tab, and maybe bring a card. This present will be remembered well.

No time for lunch?

Buy a pack of fresh coffee or tea, and stuff it in a designer mug. Add a bow, and you’re done! You can certainly swing this for less than $10! If you’re handy in the kitchen, bake fudge and present it in a colorful dish from the dollar or thrift store. Just cover the plate with some plastic wrap. If you’re not handy in the kitchen, buy a half dozen cookie at your grocery store bakery, and then repackage them for giving.  If your friend cannot eat sweets, a can of nuts should cost less than $5, and it will work too!

Gifts For Kids

Buy a few different art or craft supplies, and then present them in a carrying case. For younger kids, the big box of crayons with a coloring book will be great. Older kids may enjoy a drawing pad with colored pencils. If the child is not crafy, you could substitute toy cars or water toys, packaged in a plastic swim bag. The child will enjoy it, and his or her parents will be please by your thoughtfullness.

Gifts For Teens

Teens can be tough, because they are exposed to a lot more peer pressure, and will much more sophisticated than their younger siblings. But I have found some inexpensive gifts that appeal to their new adult awareness.

Teen boys appreciate shaving kits because it emphasizes that they need to take care of themselves as men now.  Of course a gift card at their favorite gaming store may not buy them anything, but can help them save for the latest electronic game. A nice pen may also be appreciated more than you think it will.

Teen girls can usually be pleased with a bath set or a personal grooming kit. You shold be able to find one at your local grocery or drug store for about $10. Package it in a bag that can be used for overnight stays, and you will give a winner! You can also buy a pedicure gift certificate for about $20 that is sure to please!
