What Diet Foods Work, are Satisfying, and Healthy? You seeĀ a lot of packaged foods that the grocery store. They may be promoted as Lite, Low Fat, Low Carb, or Low Calorie! But are these foods really helping people lose weight. Since the US has a big obesity problem, and Americans buy plenty of light foods, I have to wonder!

High Water Content Food

People who manage to lose weight, usually concentrate on foods with a high water content. Of course, these foods are fruits and vegetables, and also recipes that contain these high water content foods in a higher precentage. This all seems like common sense, but we are obviously missing it!

Negative Calorie Food

Another type of food that seems to help are Negative Calorie Foods. Some vegetables actually take more energy to digest than they contain, and so the net result is a negative calorie count! You can also find some noodles made wtih vegtable starches that will not add calories to your daily diet. That is because they are mostly fiber which we cannot digest.

You can also try no calorie konnyaku noodles. They are made from a root, contain high fiber, and do not contribute actual calories.

Eat Like a Human and Lose Weight!

You can still enjoy food and stay trim. Try to emphasize high water content food and high fiber selections. When you go out to eat, start your meal with a salad. You would be surprised at how much less pizza you will take off of the buffet, when you force yourself to start off with a large salad!

When you cook at home, go ahead and prepare your favorite recipes. Just add a salad to every meal, and also, try to “pepper” your recipes with some vegetables. A good example is adding some diced peppers, onions, zuchini, etc. to a pasta sauce. Sure, you may still add met and cheese, but if you can slip in some vegies, you will probably eat a lot less calories with the same service side. You will also take in some essential vitamins and minerals.

Try to add more fruit to your diet. Fruit is nature’s candy, and it can satisfy a sweet tooth. I know that my own family will grab handfuls of grapes instead of other sweets. You can eat a lot of sweet grapes for the same calorie content of one small candy bar.

Chocolate Diet Food?

Speaking of candy, you can satisfy a chocolate craving with a glass of low fat chocolate milk or hot chocolate. It has calcium, protein, and other nutrients, and actually contains less calories than candy bars. Besides, you will probably feel more satisfied laer.
