Digestion System and Colon Health

Digestive Health

Colon Cleansing has become so popular lately and most people probably wonder why. Well, I can shed some light on the subject due to a personal experience. At one point in my life I was having severe stomach pain. My regular doctor prescribed a upper GI test which was very uncomfortable, scary and expensive. In desperation, I finally consulted a doctor who practiced homeopathic medicine but was also a medical doctor. She had both a D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy) and an M.D. (Doctor Of Medicine). She prescribed digestive enzyme, a low acid and low gluten diet and a mild colon cleansing. You may have heard of colon cleansing from Dr. Oz the very popular medical expert on Oprah’s show. With digestive disorders increasing rapidly (60 to 70 million people per year) many of us are looking for some relief.

When your colon is not functioning well, toxins may be forced to leave the body in ways other than natural elimination. Halitosis (bad breath), body odor and yeast infections can also be symptoms of colon malfunction Colon cleansing may help get rid of some of these problems.

Bad bacteria in the colon can possibly be responsible for colon diseases, headaches, fatigue, muscle aches, lupus and cardiovascular disease.

Cleansing the colon can help you eliminate unwanted parasites that might be living in your intestines. Insect bites, meat not cooked to the proper temperature, vegetables not cleaned properly, pets and even sexual activity can cause bad parasites to get into your system.

Medical research tells us that our body’s natural process is for bowels to move after every meal. Our frantic pace in life has caused most of us to move our bowel much less often. Perhaps, this is part of the reason for the rise of digestive disorders. When food sits in our colons it can begin to putrify and bad bacteria can develop.

Even if bowel movements are regular, waste can move through the colon and leave some residue on the walls. Leftover wastes in the colon can cause the muscles of the colon wall to lose their tone. Diverticulosis (a condition that occurs when small pouches (diverticula) push outward through weak spots in the colon) can result from loss of tone. Food can get caught in these pouches and bad bacteria can form.

Colon cleansing is thought to help with other problems besides digestive problems: depression, cold hands or feet, chronic fatigue, endometriosis, circulation problems, memory loss, low sex drive, gas, insomnia, irritability, allergies, body odor, and bad breath, brittle nails and hair, blood pressue, memory loss and inability to concentrate.

Many people report simply feeling better after a using colon cleansing product. As Dr. Oz said on Oprah – The fiber washes out all the junk so it doesn’t lay in the colon irritating the cells and becoming toxic by rotting there.
