Mid Afternoon Slump
Don’t you always wonder why you have that mid afternoon slump? If you knew why it happened you could probably avoid it and get a lot more work done. Well, Dr. Oz has some very simple advice about the afternoon slump. He explains what is myth, what is fact and what you can do to stop afternoon slump from happening to you.
Myth: Mid afternoon slumps are caused by what you ate for lunch.
Truth: Some foods may increase that tired feeling but they are not actually the cause of it. Large heavy meals may increase the feeling you need a nap but so can an unbalanced intake of carbohydrates, protein and fat.
Myth: Afternoon slumps mean you have a sleep disorder.
Truth: According to Dr. Oz, your natural circadian rhythms create small ebbs and flows in functions including sleep and alertness. One major dip occurs at midnight and dawn and another smaller dip happens between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Myth: Lunchtime workouts make the afternoon slump worse.
Truth: Workers are less likely to feel fatigue in the afternoon when they exercise during lunch. The type, duration or intensity of the exercise doesn’t seem to matter.
