Here is a brief overview of what tax incentives are currently available as far as federal income tax. Several states are also trying to offer some incentives to taxpayers to supplement the cost of long term care.

Long-term care premiums are deductible as a medical expense (subject to the 7.5 percent-of-AGI floor), although there are limits to the deduction based on the taxpayer’s age.

If you work for yourself you are eligible to deduct 100% of long term care insurance premiums.

If you are employed by someone and your employer pays for a portion or all of your tax-qualified long term care insurance you do not have report this benefit as an addition to your adjusted gross income.

The new annuity 1035 exchange effective in 2010 allows you to do a partial 1035 from your NQ annuity to pay for a qualified LTC contract. If you want find out more about this possibility you probably need to talk to an insurance agent or financial planner that you trust.

Here are some alternative therapies For preventing infection and pain after dental extractions: (discuss with your dentist first before trying)

In this case, you might want to structure your income policy so it pays out after a hundred days. That way you can be sure you have money coming in, even if you are out of work for a long time!

How long will these policies pay you? Normall, an STD will pay out for a few weeks to a few months. LTD policies may make payments for several months to several years. Some even pay out until normal retirement age.You will usually get to choose from a variety of waiting periods and payment terms.

How much will these policies cost you? Your rates will vary depending upon a few things. The place you purchase the policy, your age, current health, and employment situation can all be factors that will affect your final price. You may be able to purchase a policy at your job, and you can also find these policies on the private market. Some people add a disability rider to their term life insurance policies too!

Should you consider disability insurance?
