One author of a frugal living blog describes frugal living as “to look at optimizing efficiency and utility – one will become frugal, rather than just do frugal things.”

This blogger who retired in his mid thirties claims he spend about 75% less than the average person, and yet gains an equivalent level of satisfaction.

How did this person do it? He advocates really scrutinizing the way you live. Then you find out what you really need and what makes you really happy.

Living in smaller home and living close to work are some of the things that will make a really big impact on reducing expenses. Houses and cars are responsible for a good percentage of our expenses because of utilities, taxes, insurance and maintenance.

Another interesting point he makes is the value of staying healthy. We always think about investing money to retire but we do not consider investing in preserving our health.

Health insurance and medical costs are the money pit of retirement. If you do whatever you can to keep your body healthy, your retirement will be more comfortable. You need to take care of your teeth also as dental procedures are costly and dental insurance is expensive when you have to pay for it yourself.

So living frugally can mean eating right, good dental hygiene and exercising regularly. Also finding ways to get rid of stress such as having a regular massage or learning to meditate.

Getting rid of clutter can also help you cut expenses and retire sooner. Extra stuff takes up space which costs money. If you can reduce your clutter you can do with less square footage and cut costs. In addition to taking up space anything that you own has to be maintained and that cost money too.

Find out more about how frugal living can help you retire on time or early see our post Frugal Retirement Living

Do You Dream Of Early Retirement?

Who does not have some golden dreams of retirement days? Maybe you picture yourself sunning by a beach, rocking on your front porch, or just having time to visit your children and grand children. Maybe you dream bigger, and you figure that retirement will mark the start of a new type of life. You may want to begin a business, volunteer for a worthy cause, or travel all over the world.

Before you decide if it is time to quit your current career, you have to carefully consider each one of the true advantages and disadvantages of early retirement though. Retiring early can be great, but it is not the right solution for everybody.

Have you really figured out how leaving your current employment situation will affect your financial life? Do you have another income planned, or do you think your savings can carry you through? Remember, you could live a long time. One of the worst fears that many people have is outliving their retirement savings!

Health Concerns

If you leave your current job, will you still have health insurance? If you are already getting Medicare benefits, that may help. If you can take a retirement package from your old job with health benefits, that can help too. But if you have to take care of this on the private market, that can be a big expense.

In fact, the early retirement health insurance problem is one big thing that keeps a lot of people at their desk! Be sure and look into solutions to this problem before you make a decision.

Income Retirement

Your biggest question, before retirement, will be if you can be comfortable with your lower income. You may have some retirement income from social security, a past job, annuities, etc., but it is not likely to be as large as your income from your job. Can you take measures to be a bigger cheapskate to totally make up for that?

A lot more people are looking for some extreme frugality tips because they just do not know how to become more frugal. Some of us remember how frugal our parents were.

Who Should Be More Frugal?

Lots of average people have realized that they need to be a lot more frugal in the future! Almost every family was hit, in one way or the other, by the recession. Most of us had no way to make a lot more money. We had to learn to manage our money much better so we could still meet our financial goals and be more secure. Frugality has become a way of life for many families.

Is It Too Hard To Be Frugal?

A lot more people are looking for some extreme frugality tips because they just do not know how to become more frugal. Some of us remember how frugal our parents were. Somehow, we got caught up in a very consumerist lifestyle though. Actually, it is not that hard to manage money better if you know how to begin.

Your first step should be to figure out what you are spending money on now. You should try to write down your expenses for the last month or so. This will be a good way to see where money is leaking out of your personal budget. A lot of times, people can spot the problems right away.

There could be too much money spent on simple things like eating out or stopping off at the convenience store several times a week. You may decide to see if you can find a cheaper utility company or better car insurance rates. All of these things that you can do to reduce your fixed expenses can help you save a lot of money by next month without a real change in lifestyle. You could just shop around for a better way to meet your needs without spending as much money.

If you need to cut your budget a lot, you may have to make some painful choices. If you have to spend hundreds of dollars, each month, just to keep debt payments current, it will be a lot harder to be financially secure. Paying off a lot of debt will probably require a plan. While you are attacking the debt, it can be painful. However, after you have cut it, you will be much better off.

Do not forget to allocate some money towards your savings. Remember the old adage that you should pay yourself first? This means that your budget should include regular contributions to short term and long term savings accounts. You should start by establishing an emergency fund so you can use it to pay for immediate needs. This will help you cut your use of credit too. Do not forget long term plans either. We all need to save money for retirement and other future needs.

When you do visit the grocery store, it will help if you carry cash. When you carry cash, and not credit cards, it is a lot easier to stick to your budget. when the cash is gone, you must stop spending!

If you have spent a lot of money for a long time, it may seem very difficult to change your ways. You should not have to live like a hermit. You just need to start keeping track of your expenses better, and then choose to make better choices!

How Do Rich People Spend Money?

Have you read the saying that the rich are different? It is not because the just sit around and buy gold and silver all day! Some of the differences are real though, especially when you study the way they handle money every day.

Wealthy folks might choose to purchase expensive things, but they expect value too. Learn how the rich really are quite different, and how you can benefit from some of their practices in your own life.

What is it that frugal rich people do that is different from things ordinary people do?

You may think that the reason wealthy people can control their money is because they have a lot of it. Wealthy people actually have some good habits that help them control their spending. In fact, most wealthy people probably spend a lot lower of a percentage of their income than others do.

Some of these frugal ideas can benefit you if you are rich, poor, or middle class!

Rich people pay with cash quite often. Sure, they may have wads of hundred dollar bills to spend. But by paying cash, instead of swiping plastic, they actually have a good handle on how much they spend on things.

Wealthy people do spend money on nice things, but they are actually less likely to spend money on impulse items. A lot of middle class people tend to get in financial trouble because they do not have a good handle on their impluse buys, and not because they cannot manage fixed bills.

It may not seem like a lot to drop twenty bucks at a convenience store. However, if you do it every day, you are spending an extra five hundred and sixty dollars a month on impulse buys! Then you may wonder why you always seem short of money between paychecks. That extra money might have made the difference.

If you can control your own impulse spending, could you set aside a lot more cash? If you had planned your grocery shopping better, you may have been able to buy the same things you stopped at the store for at half the price! Would an extra two hundred two hundred and eighty dollars a month help you meet your budget goals better?

Wealthy people also tend to demand high qualify objects and great service for the money. You may feel like you got ripped off on a purchase or endured bad servce. A wealthy person would not tend to let this slide, but would take action to fix the problem. If they cannot resolve the problem, they move on so they do not have to spend money unwisely again.

Sure, some people are born so wealthy that they would have real trouble spending it all. But a lot of rich people got that way by working hard and learning to manage their money very well. Do you see the point? A few small changes could help you save a few hundred dollars each month! You could invest it to build more wealth.

Can you benefit from some of the habits of wealthy people?

Simple Family Budget Repair

Almost all families have some bad times when expenses and budgets seem to go crazy! When this happens, a family is also likely to experience some credit issues. This is no time to panic, but it is a time to really investigate the situation so you can repair your budget and fix your credit!

I’ve let my budget go downhill, while my expenses when uphill, and you probably have too. I needed a way to understand where my money was going every month. I got back on track with some simple and free online tools that helped me picture the problem.

What helped me were actually some tools like the free budget calculator. I estimated my expenses, one by one with the help of this online tool. I only spent a few minutes entering estimates into the online form. Even though I just guessed at some of the numbers, it helped me because it allowed me to visualize where my money was going. Once I could see it, I could find ways to stop the problems.

If you have ever had problems managing your own family budget, you know what problems you can run into. If you have trouble sticking to a budget, you may start charging some routine things. Your credit card balances can start to rise, and then you will have to make more payments on those. You may find yourself in a really tough situation when you start charging normal things like groceries or gasoline. You know you have a problem when you have to finance your power bill or food with a credit card.

So, you have two solutions. You can either cut your expenses or make more money. It may be a lot easier to find some simple ways to cut your costs than it is to find a new job with a bigger payday.

A budget worksheet or calculator can really help because it shows you how much you spend in a variety of categories. Sometimes that is enough to get you to spot the problem so you can begin to deal with it.

It may be a simple matter of replacing meals out with dinner at home a few more times a month. If you spend $50 when you take your family out for dinner, and you do that three times a week, that adds up to $600 a month! You may be able to replace one of those nights out for dinner at home and shave a couple of hundred dollars from your monthly expenses.

You may just need to plan your shopping trips better. Convenience stores tend to charge more for that convenience. Make sure you stock up on staples like toilet paper and laundry soap at the discount store so you will not end up paying twice as month when you have to rush out for something you need. When I started working harder to plan my shopping lists better, I started saving almost $200 every month.

You may find that you are just paying too much for some of the services you need to buy. If you have a fixed monthly bill, like car insurance, take a little time to shop around for the best deals. If you pay $200 a month for your family auto policies, even a 20% savings will save you almost $500 a year!

Approach your budget shaving measures like an adventure and a game. It can be fun to see how frugal you can be without really giving up anything. Personally, a visual calculator or worksheet helps me because it allows me to see my expenses broken out by categories! Look at some of the best places to find free financial calculators online.

————————

Many People In US Have No Emergency Savings

I found one recent Time Magazine article very disturbing. They found that almost a quarter of Americans reported it would be almost impossible for them to come up with two thousand dollars within 30 days. Almost twenty percent more said that they would have trouble, but could sell or pawn something to get the money if they had to. In my opinion, the fact that almost have of US savers do not have emergency cash, points to a big problem.

Long Term vs. Short Term Savings

Now many of these people may have retirement savings calculated out. But they cannot take any money out of this fund without a lot of trouble and some penalties! It is great to work on retirement savings, but it is also important to plan for something that could happen next week.

Why is this a problem? One trip to the auto repair shop or dentist office can eat up quite a bit of money. Many dental providers are reluctant to offer credit these days, and you may find that credit is a lot tighter at the repair shop too. How can you have a secure life without access to some emergency cash?

Tactics To Build An Emergency Cash Fund

Start a change can. When you clean out your pockets, wallet, or purse of change, just deposit it in the can! When the can starts to fill out, deposit half the money in a savings account and keep half in case you just need some money around the house. Many good banks provide a coin counter as a free service. The coin counters at the grocery store usually take a hefty fee for their service.

Pay yourself first. Every time you get paid, try to put something in your cash account. Even if it is just $10 – $50, it will build up over time.

If you have nothing to spare between paychecks, consider some ways to generate that extra money. Some of your neighbors may be willing to pay you to pick up an elderly person for doctor’s appointments, mow a lawn, or install a new garbage disposal.

If you rely upon an emergency credit card, you may be alright. That is, if you make sure you pay it promptly. Otherwise that strategy can get you into trouble with high charge card balances and interest rates.

America, it is time to be prepared. An emergency cash fund can help you lead a more secure life. It is so much easier to handle an emergency when you have some ready access to cash.

How to Save Money on Bills This Month

Why Do We Need To Save More Money?

Almost everybody I talk to is concerned about spending less money so they can recover financially. Investment accounts have dropped in value, savings accounts offer lower interest rates, and a lot of things just seem to cost more. In order to meet financial goals, we may need to work a little harder in order to spend less money so we can save more. We still want to save money for retirement and emergencies, reduce debt, and get our paychecks to last until all of the bills are paid!

People are still making some simple financial mistakes that can cause money leaks. At first they may seem small, but when you add them all up, they can amount to hundreds, or thousands, of dollars worth of wasted money every year. That money could certainly be put to good use.

Car Insurance Savings

This seems like a good place to start because almost all of us need to drive. In order to drive legally, we need a state minimum liability policy. If we still owe money on our vehicles, which most of us seem to do, we may be required to carry even more coverage by our lenders. This means we need to pay an auto insurance premium every month but it does not mean we need to overpay.

One of the simplest things you can do is to compare car insurance quotes. Do not assume that all insurers are the same, or that your old company is giving you the best deal out of loyalty. It used to be complicated and time consuming to compare quotes, but these days you can use an online quote form that will return competitive prices and policies from top insurers in your local area.

A new insurance company or agent will be eager to get your business, and they will probably be very likely to help you go through your policies to remove coverage you do not need. They can also point out discounts for some things you are already doing. If you spend $300 a month, for example, on family auto and home insurance, even a 20% savings will add up to over $700 a year. Many people save 40%, or more, by comparing quotes.

Grocery Store Savings

Here is another bill we all have to pay if we want to eat. However, it is also a variable bill that we can control. I have never been a big fan of the conventional wisdom of using coupons or detailed shopping lists. Here’s what I believe will help you save the most money.

Clean out your pantry. Many people buy things they do not need because they have no idea what they have stored at home. Instead of going to the store and buying your third jar of salsa because you forgot you bought 2 on sale last month, you can only purchase replacements of things that are running low!

Shop for sales and produce that is in season. Rather than shopping around a detailed meal plan, just map out the general outline of meals you need to prepare and staples you have to keep on hand. Then you can look for store sales to direct your exact meals. I always think this is a fun way to do my grocery shopping, and I hate having to stick to a detailed list.

Budget Plans

Can you go through your bank statement and see where money is leaking? Many people bought gym memberships after New Year’s, but realize that they stopped using them much a few months later. Now that the weather is getting nice, maybe it is time to take walks, garden, or get your bike out of the garage. Think about how much you will also save on gasoline to get to the gym, gym clothes, and you membership dues.

Convenience items were a big money leak with me. Now I try to prepare with some of these items, purchased in bulk, so I do not have to run out and overpay for snack bars or toothbrushes whenever I cannot find one. It costs less, and is really more convenient.

Party At Home

We used to go out with other families. But if eight people have dinner and a movie out it can cost a couple of hundred dollars or more. Try replacing one of these outings with a night in. You could probably feed and entertain a crowd for $50 or less.

Save More Money Without Sacrifice

The idea here is to cut out money leaks, replace expensive items with cheaper ones, and to save more without giving up on things you like or need.

Do you need to save more money?

We want to help you save money on insurance with our simple, fast, and totally free online quote forms. You just have to enter your basic information once, and then relax as top insurers compete for your business!

Debit cards are so easy to use and keep you from having carrying around large sums of cash. There are some hidden costs associated with debit cards that consumers may be unaware of. Learn what situations will trigger these hidden charges and you will save yourself aggravation and money:

Overdraft charges – If your debit charges exceed your balance you will be charged an overdraft fee by the bank. The fee can be as much as $39.00 per overdraft. If you have more than one overdraft the fees can add up quickly. Consumer advocates suggest declining overdraft protection, if you can and maintaining at least $50.00 in your checking account as a cushion.
Out of order transactions – I have personally been hit with this one. Some banks process your day’s expenses from biggest to smallest. This works against you because say for example you have $200.00 in your checking account and you have two purchases of $25.00 each and then spend $225.00. You would only have one overdraft fee if the bank went in the order of your purchases but if they process the $225.00 purchase first – the other two purchases also trigger overdraft fees. Consumer advocates suggest looking for a bank that processes transaction chronologically.

Limited protection - U.S. law will protect credit-card purchases from liability if you paid with a credit card and the item is damaged or doesn’t ever get to you but this protection doesn’t extend to debit cards. Consumer advocates suggest always using your credit card when you buy online so you have that protection.

International fees - If you are overseas and pay with your debit card you may get hit with foreign exchange fees. You may also get charged these fees if you buy online from a foreign source. Consumer advocates advise looking for a bank that waives this fee.

Heard about ProFlowers promotion code and FragranceNet coupons but do not know where to get or how to use them? You have come to right place. Let us guide you through what you need to know about discount coupons. Discount coupons, promotional codes, coupon codes, e-vouchers or rebates – coupons can be called any of these, but they refer to the same thing. These are special codes which can get you discounts off the listed price of goods at various online shops. These promotional codes vary in many ways. Most online shops offer them as short-terms, which means you have to use these coupons before a certain date (usually only a few days). Coupons can also vary on the amount of discount given, which can range from 5% up, some even go as high as 30%. Some promotional codes require a minimum purchase amount before you can use them in your purchases. A few coupons offer free delivery instead of giving discounts off from the posted retail prices. Now for the more important question: where can you get ProFlowers promotion code and FraganceNet coupons? These coupons can not be found in the online sites itself. Think of it this way: [...]

Discount coupons, promotional codes, coupon codes, e-vouchers or rebates – coupons can be called any of these, but they refer to the same thing.
Now for the more important question: where can you get ProFlowers promotion code and FraganceNet coupons? These coupons can not be found in the online sites itself. Think of it this way: If online stores provide coupons on the site itself, it is like giving away discounts on all of their items, affecting their profit margin. So, if you want ProFlowers promotion code and FraganceNet coupons, your best option would be through search engines and websites that offer a collection of online coupon codes for sharing and exchange.

Searching for discount coupons is very easy. Once you find a site that hosts these coupons, you will easily see the code along with its validity. So if you are looking for a ProFlower promotion code, simply look for it in their list and you will be shown the code. You do not usually need to download any special software in order to view these coupons.

So now that you have your coupon code, what is next? How do you use these promotional codes? The way to use discount coupons are basically the same. As in real life, when you have a coupon, you usually just present it at the cashier when you are ready to pay for your item. Online coupons work the same way. If you have FraganceNet coupons, for example, once you have chosen the item you would like to buy from the website, you only need to proceed to checkout as usual. During checkout, the site will ask for a coupon code and there is a field where you can type in the coupon code that you have. After inputting and proceeding with the payment, the discount gets automatically deducted from the amount originally charged to you.

Using discount coupon codes is only as simple as that. You do not have to be a computer expert or an online buff in order to access and use them. So, go on and look for those FragranceNet coupons and ProFlowers promotion code to get better deals on your next online purchase.

Want to buy the perfect presents for your loved one at the best deals through FragranceNet or Proflowers?
It has been read many a times that people often have problems using online coupons. Either the code is not clear in the printable version or there is some sort of duplication or some other problem all together. Is it really worthwhile going through this confusion all for the sake of a few dollars?

Well, that’s the question that many people ask before opting for coupons of their choice and use like Avis rental coupons or an Adobe coupon. However, when you delve more into the details, you soon realize that there is a simple answer to this particular question. The answer is a resounding yes! Being a smart consumer is very important. You need to make sure you read up on the coupon details thoroughly before availing of it. However, there are a few things you need to be cautioned about before using such your Avis rental coupons or making a new product purchase using an Adobe coupon.

For instance let us take the example of two very different services that you may decide to avail of – one being the Avis rental coupons and the other being the Adobe coupon. When you go to avis.com (the home page for availing the Avis rental coupons) and click on the ‘add a coupon’ option, you are asked to enter the coupon code. Go to the search engine provided within the site and use the keyword ‘coupons’. You are presented with a range of over fifteen FAQs which enable you to get a clear idea of each step that needs to be taken to ensure that your coupon works. The best way to get over the hesitance of buying Avis rental coupons is to go to their site and get a clear idea of the frequent mistakes that consumers usually make so that the same are not repeated in your case.

Now for Adobe coupon, the same rules apply. Go to the particular site and use the ‘coupon’ keyword search and get a clear picture of what kind of coupons are available and what kind of Adobe coupon doesn’t require you to have a coupon code. Once you are clear with this, coupon purchase should no longer be a source of worry.

Before making the purchase make sure that you check if the Adobe coupon or Avis rental coupons allow you to buy the product that you want to. Always check with the customer service for this. A few precautions like these will prevent you from being a disappointed online coupon user while helping you use this service effectively.

Need to rent a car then use Avis rental coupons for some good discounts. For your Adobe product needs, simply use your Adobe coupon and choose the product of your choice!
