The History

The first technological GIS was developed by the early 1960s. Though the fully operational, computerized GIS systems were developed in 1962, the concept behind this technology was in practice 15,500 years ago (According to Historical Research). Though no sophisticated computer system were in use during that period, the hunters of the historical age used to paint the pictures of the hunted animals on the walls of the caves to find the migration routes of the animals. This concept has seen many modifications and advancements and is popularly known today as the GIS systems.

With the entry of Geographical information systems online, they are referred as Web GIS today. This has found it’s place in many businesses and organization around this planet and it has become one of the fastest growing technologies online.
