Order the right direct marketing lists and your business will grow.

If you have to buy mailing lists to help build your client base, they do you know how much a single lead is to you?  This is a dilemma many people face when they are researching companies that sell direct marketing lists.  The best thing you need to do before you buy mailing lists from any company is determine exactly what type of clientele you are looking for and where you expect your business to be in the future.  Unless you can predict the growth and direction of your company through those first lucrative years, you may find yourself growing stagnant and going under regardless of how many direct marketing lists you buy.

Your average clientele can be broken into two groups, consumers and businesses.  While you may think that your most profitable sales will come solely from consumers it’s wise to keep businesses in mind as well.  You could very well find direct marketing lists of businesses that are looking for the products or services you offer.  This actually broadens your entire clientele base.  However, when you buy mailing lists to use to market your company you need to keep in mind that the demographics used to separate businesses and consumers are going to be different.  For example, direct marketing lists for your consumers will be based on information such as the person’s age, income, property, family, where they live, sports and hobbies, and more.  Direct marketing lists of businesses will look at things like location, number of employees, how long they have been in business, and what type of business they are.

Once you have your direct marketing lists in hand you need to go through it with the proverbial fine tooth comb.  While the broker you may have bought your list from used your specific details in their search, there will always be names on direct marketing lists that just don’t belong or are week in the ‘they will buy by product’ department.  You need to separate your list into three groups.  Group A meets all or most of the demographic specifications the broker searched on and compiled the list from.  These are going to be your best clients.  Group B will meet some of the demographic specifications.  Group C is everyone else.

Always market to Group A first on your direct marketing lists as they are the ones that will use your product or service every single time.  Once you have exhausted that group, move on to group B and then group C.  The advantage of grouping your clients in such a way is that the next time you need to buy mailing lists, you already know what your best clients are going to be like and it will be easier to find them the next time around.  It is always to your advantage to know what one single lead will mean to you.  Those leads that are the best ones for your company will be in that A group.  And that is the group you want on every single one of the direct marketing lists you buy.
